Between 2000 and 2023, the forest stock volume in the European Union increased by a third, growing from approximately 22 billion cubic meters to around 29 billion cubic meters.
In 2023, the following countries had the largest net forest gains:
- Portugal: 11.1%
- Denmark 7.6%
- Ireland 6.8%
- Finland 3.5%
- Germany 2.5%
