Prior to entering into a purchase agreement and getting started with the first plans, the property and the existing building were surveyed according to the Standard of Building Biology Testing Methods. The pictures show how Johannes Schmidt, a member of the IBN team, takes measurements of, for example, radio-frequency radiation (RF) and radioactivity.
Based on the testing results, the following additional remediation measures were carried out:
- Shielding of the building against radio-frequency radiation from e.g. cell phone towers, cordless phones, and Wi-Fi networks in the neighborhood
- Disposing of floor tiles from one room, which showed slightly elevated levels of radioactivity
Since the start of construction, RF radiation levels have been monitored regularly with a broadband RF meter and RF spectrum analyzer.
