An outdoor living room in the garden

IBN-Team 4. May 2015 Posts

In building biology, we highly value green space around the house. It is important to live “in and with nature,” but also to live in harmony with one’s neighbors.

On the east side of the house, we created an outdoor living room as a little sanctuary where people can relax, have a meeting, or do their work. The wild apple tree, which was planted in the center of the garden, and the bee-friendly plants such as herbs have a little more growing to do. A small bubble rock improves the microclimate. Especially on hot summer days, the natural element of water lifts one’s spirit and attracts moisture-loving plants to the garden. Regional natural stones add beauty and serve also as seating.

A fence made of woven willow provides the desired privacy.
The garden shed echoes the round shape of the main building and provides storage space for garden furniture, tools, and pellets. The roof of the garden shed will still be planted.
As there is more time, we will add more specific habitat suitable for birds and small animals such as lizards, bats, or wild bees.
